The Beginnings

From an Idea to a Journey

On March 13, 2003, our journey began. Three people, one idea and the desire to make development tangible – that’s how HBS Berlin was born.

From the very beginning, our work was internationally oriented. We accompanied companies in Europe, Asia and Latin America and learned: Good leadership always starts with a genuine counterpart.

Leadership is more than technique – it’s an attitude.

From Consulting to Experience

Consulting became guidance, processes became business simulations, trainings became learning journeys. We experimented, combined experience with curiosity and kept finding new ways.

Today we combine coaching, business simulations and team development into learning spaces where people meet – at eye level, with joy and depth.

Stephan Haensch

Starting out as a business economist – young, ambitious, perhaps a little naive. Barely into my career, I founded my first company: Haensch Quality Development. Back then, everything revolved around management systems, ISO standards and strategies – solid, but rarely exciting.

But at some point I asked myself the crucial question: How do you bring knowledge into a company in a way that people can actually do something with it? Thats when business simulations came into play. Consulting became learning, concepts became experiences and thats how HBS Berlin was born.

Over the years, people moved more and more to the center. I expanded my repertoire – from Insights Discovery and Design Thinking to Transactional Analysis. Today I accompany leaders and teams as a coach – with experience, attitude and humor.

My work has taken me to over 50 countries. These international experiences have shaped me: they teach humility, curiosity and the value of genuine encounter. In my private life too, Im drawn to the long distance for over seven years Ive been an ultra-runner in the mountains. These runs are reflection in motion.
